Challoch Farm, Stranraer

This is a new dairy unit designed on a brown field site. The existing site had a collection of old cubicle sheds and a small general purpose shed. The existing parlour and collecting area building had to be left to the end of the project to allow milking to done during the build. It will be removed after the new shed is fully up and running.

The new shed consists of 221 cubicles, automatic scrapers, a precast slurry tank, collecting area, fullwood 24:48 parlour, return race, handling facilities with a Dairy including tank room, plant room, office, WC, AI store and chemical store. There is a slurry lagoon located across the road near the centre of the land area with a underground pipe for filling it.

The project was part funded through SRDP grant.
